Since Sandy Hook, the news media has been all over every story from around America about crazed gunmen settling scores, real or imagined.
I’ve been particularly fascinated by the Dorner Manhunt. The ironies of the LAPD having one of its former officers go Rambo over false excessive force complaints and then using excessive deadly force against unarmed civilians in the course of hunting down said former officer is almost too much too bear. It would all be funny if not for the fact that three people have have already died and the likelihood is that it’s going to end even worse.
Schoolchildren get mowed down even in schools designed as fortresses; a neighborhood watchman awaits trial for shooting an unarmed juvenile; thousands of cops take to the streets on twin missions to find one of their own gone bad as others hunker down and protect their own in their homes (a service they do not offer to domestic violence victims or other threatened civilians). Who is protecting us, from whom are we being protected, and what with?
For my part, I don’t see guns as either a cause or cure for our societal troubles. I think we’re just a twisted and sick society that needs–and deserves–a complete shake-up. The sensationalism of all of these most recent rampages is just a bit more evidence of it.
Anyway, despite my tired nihilism, I want to escape it all in a healthier way than fortifying my arsenal or calling for the elimination of basic Constitutional rights. Let’s lock and load with:
1. Guns: Really obvious, right?
2. Stand Your Ground: Rights…and wrongs.
3. Ban Everything: We’re clearly too stupid and crazy to control ourselves, armed or not.
4. Give LaPierre Some Cover: Acts of violence committed with things other than firearms.
5. High capacity magazines: Spam the thread with multiple songs by one artist or something. RTFLC shall not infringe.
Depraved Indifference to Humanity Bonus: Shock me if you can. I have a few rounds chambered already.

#1 I Shot the Sherriff – Bob Marley http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XiYUYcpsT4
Hmm, come to think of it the Eric Clapton version could have been used last week.
#2 I Won’t Back Down – Tom Petty http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUTXb-ga1fo
This doesn’t really fit into any category, but the band name refers to guns and guns are used in war.

I had worried that this week’s subject might be TOO morbid, especially when Mrs Thrill grimaced at the title. Oh, well. Glad to see we’re like-minded sickos.

Know what this thread needs? Some more fucking Marilyn Manson just to round out category # 5.
And also because this has been a really shitty month and the cherry on top has been my cat getting run over. Fuck this shit. It’s been a Marilyn Manson sort of year so far.

Little-known fact: The Colombine killers weren’t fans of Marilyn Manson. They loved the fuck out of KMFDM though:

A carpetbagger comes to the South and tries to run things to their way of thinking. Much like the Californication of Colorado, Arizona and recently parts of Texas.
A Damn Yankee is a northerner who moves to the South and refuses to leave.
