Price-fooking-less

In the a liberal utopian bastion where the murder rate is higher than in Afghanistan and the liberals have made it impossible for law abiding citizens without the right connections to them to own any kind of firearms, we now get this unbelievable news:

CHICAGO (CBS) – Starting this week, Chicago police are changing their responses to 911 calls. They’ll no longer come right away to reports of things like criminal damage to property, vehicle thefts, garage burglaries, or other crimes in which the suspect is no longer on the scene, and the victim isn’t in immediate danger.

The move will free up the equivalent of 44 police officers a day for patrol duties.

So not only have they disarmed the law abiding citizens, but now they tell them that since they are not able to cough up more cash for the city to get more unionized cops, that there will be no quick response. Who the fook will determine if you are in immediate danger or not? No way this can go horribly wrong, right? The message here is that they don’t give a flying fuck about the stupid serfs. Thanks for nothing you bastards.

My little town and county both have new hot-rod cars and SUVs every other month, literally.

Don’t know the specifics of your situation but I also live in a small town (pop. about 25 thousand, love the small town atmosphere), but those toys you speak of are probably funded by federal grant money. 3 years ago my town got a grant for 2 motorcycles and 2 M/C cops, all paid for by the feds. Last year they got a brand new shinny SUV, grant money, no way in hell they could have afforded these on their own. The motorcycle grant was for 2 years, I suspect that once that money runs out they will probably have to let those 2 cops go.

A sign of the times, get used to it!

The days of cops responding to stuff like an errant cat stuck in a tree or a neighbor dog barking is long gone, ALL agencies must prioritize responses. For whatever reasons (bloated police pensions, mismanagement of local revenues, diminishing property taxes) police have had to change the ways they do business. Now days property crimes are not considered a high priority response.

They’ll no longer come right away to reports of things like criminal damage to property, vehicle thefts, garage burglaries

And for many agencies now, they don’t respond at all. Traffic accidents not involving injuries are told to exchange names and report it to their insurance. Get your car stolen, a civilian police employee might respond to take a report or you are just told to come to the station and fill out a report yourself, all cold burglaries over a certain monetary limit get a tech response only, tagging or vandalism, forget about it.

They are still obligated to respond to “imminent danger” crimes, but with fewer and fewer police responsible for ever growing geographical beats, don’t count on anyone saving you from danger. You need to be able to protect yourself in whatever form of protection that requires, preferably something involving proper sight alignment and hollow point ammunition.

Wasn’t it Jessie Jackson or All Sharpton calling for the DHS to bring in armed units to patrol C-town?

I think it was Jackson, but knowing President Jarrett, it will be UN troops that are called in to restore order on a “test basis”….

The cops bitch about budget, and in Chicago they are probably right. But in most smaller towns the cops are rolling in cash. My little town and county both have new hot-rod cars and SUVs every other month, literally. I was watching the child hostage thing in Alabama and was amazed at the $1.5 million plus helicopter the local sheriff was riding around in. It’s not lack of funds, it’s wonky priorities in most cases.

What? No SWAT team? Your town needs some armor, quick. You never know when it could become a terrorist hot spot. Your cops probably need camo uniforms and machine guns, too. I pray that you stay safe until your local police can get with the 21st century.

my Local piss ant town , has a 1.5 million dollar budget, courtesy of the local Casino. 8 full time officers 4 Chargers, SUV’s, Full sized pickup trucks and all new fancy SWAT gear, MP-5′s M-4′s… And waht do they do with there time… got me, other than stop at the casino for free lunches, and circulate around one local bar at night.

Many counties are getting surplus military gear, from the DHS, this includes everything from Body armor, generators, weapons and even Armored trucks and tracked vehicles.

Pretty clear both are needed. In rural areas it can easily take 20 minutes or more for police to respond to a crime in progress. Hell, it can take nearly that long in some urban areas.

In the meantime, what are your chances against a violent criminal if you don’t have a gun? And why belittle someone who wants to be prepared if they need to defend themselves?
