Hey Mr DJ: Barack Hussein Obama Edition

Next week, President Obama gets his second and last(?) swearing-in. Like him or not, he is the leading, central figure of the latest great American crisis that’s playing out right now. He is also the most divisive.

To many, he is an inspirational and pragmatic statesman who would build a stronger, safer America if not for the deep problems he found when he came into office and the bedeviling antics of the reactionaries who hate him. To the rest, he is an arrogant narcissist who dreams of installing a socialist tyranny and is only thwarted by his own cluelessness. Whatever you believe, he is there. The condition of America in 10, 15, or 20 years will be either his glory or infamy.

We are a divided people facing crushing debt, unsustainable deficits, rising foreign threats, and violent video games. All of it rests on one man’s skinny shoulders.

So let’s get this inauguration going with:

1. Presidential Approval Rating–Songs about personal qualities of Obama, his media image, the nature of his Administration, etc

2. Acted Stupidly–Any music dedicated to either the moronic acts of Obama OR his political foes

3. Pass It to Find Out What’s In It–Songs about what to expect for the next four years

My first selection is a favorite from last year. I don’t think I can find anything that better expresses what I think of him:

You’ve outdone yourself today, great synopses to the dedications!

Agreed, Santino! Here’s a dedication to your dedication, though Workaholics is an acquired taste.

    Thumb up 1

And, in the good-natured spirit of fairness; a track for the hopeless ineptitude of Boehner and the rest of the GOP in Congress.

    Thumb up 2

Our journey is not complete until our gay brothers and sisters are treated like anyone else under the law –- (applause) — for if we are truly created equal, then surely the love we commit to one another must be equal as well. (Applause.)
