VP Debate Post

If presidential debates don’t matter (I heard that somewhere) then tonight’s debate should be relegated to CURRENT TV at the 3am slot, fighting for eyeballs with a Billy Mays infomercial. But I predict the highest rated VP debate in history. How could it not be? Biden has been squirreled away for over a week, sequestered by his handlers:

Ryan, likewise, is tanned, rested, and ready, but what to expect? I guess it would be too good to be true to get something Biden like ,”Gee, Paul, you are rather clean and articulate”, or, “Of course I’m prepared, this is a big F*cking deal”.

In this debate they will be seated, better to conceal the 9 pieces of string (each a different color) he has tied around a his fingers, or the shock collar Axelrod put on him in the dressing room, for when he wonders off the reservation.

I was pleasantly surprised the last time, let’s keep it going.

Jimmy Fallon riffed on this iteration of Old Parody Biden: “Joe Biden accidentally revealed the location of the Vice President’s top secret bunker. The guy can’t help it. But he did apologize. He said: ‘I am so sorry for the mistake. The launch code is 85334. It will never happen again. It will never happen again. My Gmail password is robot23. What am I doing? The house key is under the plant near the doorstep.’

    LMAO, that’s awesome.

Awesome. Everytime Ryan states a fact, CM will claim it’s a lie! I don’t even know the context, just switched it on, but I BET CM doesn’t know what ideology is… just a throw away word to throw at something you don’t like the sound of, make it sound sinister.

Is this the libs tactics for this debate? Just lie through their teeth and claim Biden did quite well? Doesn’t even matter what is said, just repeat it over and over! Was this on the lib’s press-release? “Let’s beef up Biden’s debate performance as some sort of damage control for Obama who apparently lost the debate not because he won the argument, but because Obama didn’t call out Romney’s “BS”” lol

My prediction : Who won or lost the debate isn’t the point. Biden did ‘win’ but I think that undecideds and low informations might actually get annoyed by Biden.

By allowing the rich – or those who AIM to be rich – to get rich by production, and investing in superior means of production, causing the price of goods to come down and raising the purchasing power. Purchasing power and stopping inflation is really what makes someone get “higher take home pay”. That’s one answer. Sure there are many others.

my god, watching the highlights, what a scumbag Biden screaming the rich don’t need their tax breaks!? IT’S THEIR F*CKING MONEY. Not that Romoney and Ryan won’t loot the rich to give to the poor. But still.

Irrelevant of the truth value of any statements, Biden was very undisciplined in his behavior.

Sky News, who are mostly in the tank for Obama, said Paul Ryan won the debate. LOL they just reminded us that Biden plagiarised a speech from one of our old Labour leaders. REAL CLASSY BIDEN. Like brining up your dead kid in a national political debate. An absolutely dreadful performance by Ryan, as bad as Obama did, Ryan did worse. He totally let this administration off the hook wrt Libya, throwing our allies under the bus, the debt, the economy, the slow recovery, the unemployment, the poverty level, the downgrading of our debt. Where was the “Are you better off now then 4 years ago”? Where was the line about mortgaging our kids future?

He should have been prepared for the constant interruptions and smirks, that is Joe, yet he looked confused, flustered, and unprepared. I sure hope nobody watched that debate. As much as I like Ryan I hope he is happy where he is because he just hit that glass ceiling.

I thought Ryan did well in terms of a debate, Biden seemed more emotional. I thought Biden looked and behaved terrible. i didn’t see all of it and phased out often. I didn’t like what Ryan said on Syria or abortion (he told the truth, but shot himself in the foot, way to given ammo to the Democrat’s “war on women”). When they did talk about foreign policy it seemed weak from what I heard, I agree with the Sky News person. I’ve never thought Romney was strong on foreign policy either, I’d much rather have listened to Newt G.

This debate seemed very much one person says one set of supposed facts, the the other retorts, with no clear lines of logic and no clear knock-down moments (other than Ryan’s china moment, which was a knock-down moment morally, but irrelevant if most people have not read about it)). Both could be quoting different studies and experts. No clear anything, no clear philosophy put down.

I heard it was important for Ryan to not look like an asshole when speaking to Biden, and look respectful, and not look arrogant. because of the age gap. I think he did just that.

I note that Biden mentioned the 47% thing but in his moaning about how the rich don’t “need” their own money, he’s supporting Romney’s claim (which Romney has apologised for and retracted I think) – that others are just out to take from the rest and won’t vote for someone who will allow the rich to keep their own money.

The other Sky News person has said he suspects it will be considered a “tie” by voters and viewers. He said the abortion comment by Ryan was stupid and it will be interesting to see what women think now.

Does anyone actually believe Romney’s ‘retraction’? Don’t forget, at first he defended it, and only recently did he take another position entirely.
Again it’s not about whether the rich ‘need’ their money, it’s about sorting the deficit out by everybody sacrificing their existing position. At the moment the rich are doing really well, the middle class have yet to get themselves back up off the floor.

i wanted Ryan to expose this adminstration for the failure that it is, something I thought would be fairly easy, he failed at this.

Is it possible Rich that Romney’s unexpected slaughter of Obama, and Obama’s baffling (at least on the surface, baffling) uselessness at debates, which many assumed Obama would at least appear to win, has caused you to perhaps over-expect a little, maybe? I mean Ryan destroying Biden would have been great, but was that really ever on the cards? Perhaps Ryan winning the debate in terms of facts, whilst not appearing to be a bully, beating an old man, is not the worse of results. Who knows. I thought Ryan shot himself in the foot on abortion, but we will see. I thought Ryan’s “china abortion” comment, on the other hand, was a knock-out blow to Biden, revealing his lack of morality (not that Ryan’s morality is any better, but at least he said what he believed without any attempt at hiding it… risky).

Missed chunks of it though, and almost the first half in fact, so meh.

1: an old man who thinks that being old means that he gets to act like an asshole.
2: a young man who’s afraid that he’ll look like an asshole if he really shows up.
    3: CM troll/spamming this thread.

Ryan was cool and collected, but a little too reserved. He was afraid to interrupt Biden or even say anything really big. His mother taught him how to act and is still alive. He could’ve done more and still not looked like a jerk.

Biden was having a good ‘ol time making faces and interrupting, trying to make himself look authoritative. He was better prepared than I thought he’d be, but his party still makes him the defender of the wrong messages and the interruptions coupled with complaining about Ryan going over made him look a bit childish.

Commentators prior to the debate did say it was key for Ryan to not look like an asshole beating up an old man. I suspect he was briefed to do just that, whilst Biden was briefed to just go guns blazing. As for substance it just ended up “he says, then he says, my friend said, oh my friend said”. They both seemed to be told to bring up pointless personal-account stories which had little relevance to anything I found, from what I saw. Paul Ryan isn’t strong on foreign affairs, and nor is Romney.

Biden came off as petulant and arrogant, and worse, almost aggressive towards the female moderator! He might as well have told her to STFU and get back in the kitchen. He constantly lost his composure. Lucky he isn’t like some sort of important person.

After reading the papers here in Sweden, the consensus is that Biden won this pretty handily. There’s probably an element of bias in that analysis, but just a week ago the bias didn’t stop the papers from giving the debate to Romney.

I think that there was an element of Ryan being told to not go after the old man too hard, while Biden was told to go all in. But regardless, Biden won. He was a dick, but not too much of a dick. He managed to walk the thin line. Ryan on the other hand was way too careful. He failed walking his line.

Next week will be interesting. I predict that Romney, filled with confidence and having the momentum (yes, still), will do everything to remain calm and to look presidential. Obama on the other hand needs to be more aggressive than the last time, but not too aggressive. He too needs to look presidential. Seeing how he has to be both, Obama’s task is more difficult. But hey, if he doesn’t like it, he shouldn’t put up debate performances like the last one.

Ryan could not have come out swinging hard against the old man, or at least it would have been difficult to pull, without looking like an arse. Similarly Biden could not attack Palin too hard, without looking like a douche. Considering Ryan had to debate both that old geezer off of his meds and the moderator that conveniently interrupted Ryan whenever he started pointing out Biden was a lying sack of shit or providing facts that the left didn’t like to hear, I think Ryan did quite well. Sure, Biden monopolized the discussion, interrupted some 82 times, especially when Ryan was hammering away and pointing out the blatant lies and the ineptness of this administration, and obviously, Biden was told that the this confrontational and disruptive approach was going to make him look better than meek Obama from the last debate, but I doubt independents, the only ones that would be affected either way at this point, think that the thing to do was to come across as an asshole to win their vote.

Rich is right that Ryan didn’t score a kill against an administration with nothing of substance to show for 4 years and over $5 trillion of waste, but considering he was outnumbered, constantly interrupted whenever he got to close for comfort for the two leftards going up against him, that was a real hard thing to accomplish. It’s just the same reason that it is obvious that if we had anything resembling an honest media this election wouldn’t be even close. Team Obama has absolutely nothing but cronyism, wealth redistribution (to their friends, constituents, allies, and special interests primarily), and the devastation of the singularly most successful and propserous nation to grace the history of this shitty planet to show, and their tactics and desperate campaigning should have crashed and burned but for the lies & support from the LSM. We truly have a 5th collumn now. I grant that Ryan did come across as too meek. But I bet that is because he was warned not to be too forceful, as making that old coot and his liberal sidekick pretending to moderate look like too big of a failure, might blow back on him. THis was a predicted LSM comeback. I saw some asshole on CNN try to do this this AM even in the face of the fact that it was Biden that was a complete lame ass.

Let me tell you who definitely lost out in this debate: the American people. Between Biden and the moderator, we got a whole lot of nothing from the left yet again. The fact that the entitlement state is unsustainable and that the left’s bullshit class warfare approach simply can not ever produce/steal enough income to keep the bloated welfare state afloat, was yet again not made. That both Biden and the a-hole moderating kept pretending that letting people keep more of their money is somehow a detrimental “cut” to an ever expanding bloated and wasteful welfare bureaucracy, intent on buying the left permanent power, is a major fail for people that understand that we can not keep doing more of the same. So now we are stuck with more of the same.

We are screwed no matter who wins. This election is only a question of how fast that happens, because one group wants more unicorn farts and fairy dust to keep growing government at a beyond unsustainable pace, while the other will at least pretend they want to control our slide into oblivion somewhat. Enjoy it while it lasts, I guess, because it will NOT last too much longer. The originator of the quote that history repeats itself was a genius: here comes another dark age of tyranny. Thank you very much collectivist shitheads.

What are they gonna do when he bombs the next 2 as well? If Obama pulls a Biden it will backfire on him even worse than it will for Biden: the red meat collectivists will love it, but the independents will finally have a reason to overcome their white guilt. Obama’s team has isolated him from any real pressure and that showed in the first debate. They will try to protect him, but in the end it won’t matter with people paying attention.

Nobody should take anything about politics, foreign policy, science, or religion from the DNC partisans in the LSM seriously, ever. Usually they just ignore the news they don’t think helps their side. And when they report, if they get it right, it is accidental or an oversight by their “fact checkers”. And yet, some still take these buffoons seriously.

All you have to ask yourself is what the media would have done had the guy in the WH had an “R” by his name when the ambassador in a country torn by a civil war was blatantly murdered by terrorists – after being refused more security by the State Dept, of all things – then had spun some obscene and lame excuse to shift blame from their inept handling of the whole situation to lay blame at the feet of some obscure and stupid movie criticizing, correctly of all things, something or other, only to finally show up during a nationally televised debate to yet again try and change the story retroactively while blaming everybody but themselves for the fiasco.

Do you think the LSM would have let any of that slide? We would have 24/7 coverage of how inept the guy in the WH, and by association all other people with “R’s” next to their name, were. They would savage them. Kind of like they did to Carter when he fucked up Iran. I guess the DNC operatives that pretend to be objective media learned a lesson from that fiasco that helped kill Carter’s miserable presidency – sparing Americans an even earlier fall from grace – and their role in helping Reagan win the 1980 elections, and have adjusted properly to now shill for the WH in order to protect these inept bastards. Have no doubt that the Obama presidency is literally turning into the second failed Carter administration, and then failed on steroids. But you keep hearing how great shit is from these liars. The one good thing that a Romney win will bring is an excuse for some in the press to actually do their job. Of course we will also have to deal with a massive orchestrated campaign of faux crisis news like we did during the Boosh years.
