The Party of Choice

Reason TV documents what I’ve been saying for years: that the Democrats are “pro-choice” only as far as abortion goes. On everything else, they are about as anti-choice as anyone you could imagine:

Now you may think that Reason found a bunch of freaks to make their point. You would be wrong. Most of what they articulate is straight out of the Democratic Party platform: anti-school-choice, anti-right-to-work, pro-Nanny-State (although it bears pointing out that the biggest Nanny State of all — Glorious Leader Bloomberg — is a former Republican). The Democratic Party is also in favor of the War on Drugs and their President has been cracking down on medial marijuana. They are in favor of keeping prostitution legal and have adopted much of Bush’s anti-whore rhetoric. Killing the DC Voucher program was such a big priority, they made it part of the stimulus bill. They have been supportive of restrictions on alcohol and tobacco. That’s not to mention the choice-crushing aspect of Obamacare.

Party of choice? Right.

By pro-choice, they appear to mean this choice:

Married and pregnant (unplanned) – you must choose to have an abortion

Married and pregnant (planned) – you must choose to have an abortion, particularly if you already have 1 or 2, and the member of a cult (any religion)

Unmarried and pregnant (unplanned) – you must choose to have an abortion

Unmarried and pregnant (planned) – way to go girl!! Who needs a man anyway? Bonus points for non-sexual conception.

    Thumb up 17

pro-Nanny-State (although it bears pointing out that the biggest Nanny State of all — Glorious Leader Bloomberg — is a former Republican).

Hal I agree with everything you state about the left’s anti pro-choice but just for the record:
Bloomberg was a life long registered Democrat until he ran for Mayor of NYC. He was a Republican for only 8 years (two legal terms) before becoming an Independent and trashing the term limit laws in New York City thus becoming Emperor.

I bring this up only because I know you would never mislead or misinform us intentionally.

    You stay classy, libs.
