Getting Your Money’s Worth

You can finally exhale that sigh of relief, you are working for yourself now. Few probably are aware but from the first of the year up until Monday, you were working for the government, yep every dime you earned went to feeding this monstrous animal, another symptom of the Obama Effect:

This year, Americans have to work until July 15 to pay for the burden of government, more than six months.

In a new report, Americans for Tax Reform (ATR) has calculated that Americans will spend a total of 197 days toiling to pay for the cost of government.

“Cost of Government Day is the date of the calendar year on which the average American worker has earned enough gross income to pay off his or her share of the spending and regulatory burden imposed by government at the federal, state and local levels,” reads the report.

So that is what my fair share is, 54% of my labor, nice.

Let’s look at what we are getting for our money, a depressed economy, high unemployment, the largest percentage of American’s on public assistance in our history, the highest percentage of folks living at the poverty level in our history, deficits as far as the eye can see. Whatever Obama is doing, it clearly is not working.

Me being a good American, I don’t mind paying taxes, I understand that we need government to perform certain functions and my tax money funds those endeavors. And I wouldn’t grouse so much if I thought my tax money was being spent efficiently. But we all know better, not only are they miserable at allocating proper funds for proper services, but they are taking all of our money…………then spending $4 billion a day more, just because they can.

The Obama legacy, crony capitalism, high gas prices, high costs of living, a government that spies on it’s citizens, wars without consent of congress, civil liberties trampled, programs to give guns to drug dealers, enemies’lists, a reset with world allies where they now don’t trust us with their secrets or their backs, tax cheats working in the WH, legislation by executive fiat, and the most anti business environment in our history.

I think I deserve a refund.

right on cue, Moogoo proves that he’s actually too stupid to have made it through medical school. Feeling much like a fraud “George”….?

SO, I am your only friend in this whole f’ing world aren’t I.

Obvious troll is obvious. With that post, I’m now solidly on the side of “it’s time for him to go.” That added nothing to the debate and it was just silly inflammatory. He also answered “propaganda” with a link to whitehouse.gov, that bastion of unbiased information.

I have the joy of living in the state that takes the longest to escape. 8 months of the year we work for the government.

Not even George can think that’s okay. He won’t admit it for fear of “losing” or whatever stupid bullshit metric he cooks up in his delusional brain, but inside, he knows that working 8 months out of the year to pay taxes is just wrong.

Fail elementary school grammar repeatedly, Moogoo? Why are you masquerading as a doctor online when it’s obvious you couldn’t pass the SAT exams to even get into college, much less med school?

I probably have more “friends” on my Xbox Live account than you know people willing to talk to you of their own free will in real life.

Because he submits to the fallacy of the argument from authority, and hopes others will do likewise – in relation to him.

So at which date do you think you should start “working for yourself”?
Ours was apparently May 3 (last year anyway, although they may use a different measure).

    the Obama Effect:

What is the definition of this? How is it different from previous Presidents?
I assume you’ll point to the factors you listed later:

…a depressed economy, high unemployment, the largest percentage of American’s on public assistance in our history, the highest percentage of folks living at the poverty level in our history, deficits as far as the eye can see.

All of these are largely the result of the effects of the GFC, and very few western countries have escaped those effects.
As for the last one, George’s table suggests that the deficit will reduce dramatically with higher receipts and less outlay.

I’m waiting patiently for there to ever be “less outlay.” Bring it on.

Certainly it makes logical sense that if employment is up then the govt is handing out less in welfare (and if you argue that’s just a drop in the ocean you can’t also hold a position that welfare is a massive drain on the country).

    From the report:

This marks the second consecutive year in which COGD has fallen slightly earlier than the previous year.
