President Smarmy

One thing I’ve tried to stay consistent on over the years is the demonstrated respect (both in words and actions) one should exhibit for the position of the presidency. As citizens of a free society we can complain, criticize, and critique our leaders, and when they come up wanting, to summarily ride them out of town on a rail. The position itself does demand a certain level of respect and honor, one thing (among many) those leftist loons kept forgetting with the last guy.

But our respect turns into a Gordian knot when one so shameless forgets decorum and turns the White House into a used car lot. Hence we have his latest foray into prostituting the office:

Register with Obama 2012
Got a special milestone or event coming up?

Instead of another gift card you’ll forget to use, ask your friends and family for something that will go a little further: a donation to Obama for America. Register your next celebration—whether it’s a birthday, bar or bat mitzvah, wedding, or anniversary—with the Obama campaign. It’s a great way to show your support for a cause that’s important to you on your big day.

Just log in or sign up to build and customize your page—and congratulations!

Asking for the kid’s birthday or bar mitzvah money? Talk about low rent. But this is the sort commercialism we have come to expect. And if no special event is forthcoming, one where you can steal all the presents and hock them to reelect Obama, you can sign up to have dinner with him, hot dog.

Barrack has used mealtime to fill the kiddy on more then one occasion. But a small donation for the chance (enter a raffle with thousands of other schmucks) sure beats the 38 grand price tag at Cloney’s gig.

I’m wondering what other novel ways the reelection campaign can use to pass the hat. Too bad the election is in November, otherwise I can see it now ,”This Christmas, lets show how much you love your country, forgo all the presents to Little Timmy and Sally, securing a better future for them is what they need, so give to Obama’s reelection campaign, a small present now can translate into a big present for their future”. Don’t think they aren’t above it.

How much you think they could get if they sold those Greek columns?

What really annoys me about this is the attitude that the best thing you can do with your money is give it to a political campaign. The amount of money given to campaigns could actually do some good in the world. Instead it gets pissed away so your next door neighbor doesn’t have a few more bucks than you.

It’s the real world equivalent of posting “Let’s turn Facebook pink for cancer awareness.”

    What?

Show me where I ever advocated this kind of language toward women and you may have a point. Or better yet – show me where I have ever used this kind of language in this forum about women. I was merely pointing out the irony of commenting on decorum by being crass.

I don’t recall conservative women being labeled (correct spelling) sluts and whores by sooooo many on the left – please refresh my memory and I’ll be happy to express disdain at their remarks. (and Bill Mahr doesn’t count – I’m already on the record here saying I think he is just too mean.)

    “GFY you ignorant hack.”

    Way to elevate the conversation.

Nice try, balthazar never said you advocated he said you stood by silently while others made similiar coments about conservative women.

You know this, and because you couldnt address that you decided to change the tone of balthazars comment.

    Easy Peasy

I don’t recall conservative women being labeled

Oh theres a surprise , of course you dont but recall anything of the sort, but then that’s why its called Blind allegiance

Sally, see sahrabs post. You are an ignorant self deluded idiot. I didnt say you ADVOCATED shit, I said you silently stood by then MULTIPLE articles on this site pointed out the hypocrisy of the left on this issue.

    Hack = Sally

Letterman “joked” that Palin “bought makeup at Bloomingdale’s to update her slutty flight-attendant look.”
He also advocated to have elliot Spitzer take Palis 14 year old daughter out on a date. CLAAASSSSSSYYYYY.

Ed Schultz called conservative Laura Ingraham a “slut,”.

    Maher and Bachmann

    The list goes on Sally.

    GFY you hack.

Never saw this before – if it’s true he owes her an apology.

He also advocated to have elliot Spitzer take Palis 14 year old daughter out on a date

Yeah – I thought this was big time tasteless – and said so to people I talked about it with – just not here that I remember.

Ed Schultz called conservative Laura Ingraham a “slut,”.

I think Schultz jumped the shark as soon as he moved to MSNBC. I hate the way he tries to put words into the mouths of the people he is interviewing so I pretty much ignore him. The only person I dislike more on that network is the mawkish O’Donnel (sp) So it’s not a big mystery that I missed this.

I know I am on record during the whole Limbaugh slut thing here saying that I thought Maher was a bully.

So I didn’t not stand by silently on the Maher thing as for the other two, assuming I didn’t have a negative opinion of their actions just because I didn’t post about it on RTFTLC is a straw man. I could just as easily say that you are not against bath salt users eating the faces off of people because you never condemned it here. I spend a lot of time outside of the country and or away from this site due to my job – so I do not comment on everything posted here. You might find it surprising – but I do not consider this blog the epitome of where my opinion matters but I do try very hard to be consistent in my criticisms.

Anyways – once again you guys are ignoring my original comment in order to frame this into something different than was said.

Whether or not I have beat my breast over slights to conservative women being maligned by liberal leaning entertainers has nothing to do with noticing the irony of somebody commenting on a case of decorum by being purposefully vulgar.

Speaking of keeping it classy, is this your work Sally?

    I don’t get it.

Are you asking if I am a writer for the Voice?

Or are you saying that because I have not come out against this particular Village Voice writer to the readers of RTFLC I implicitly agree?

Or – are you trying to get me to comment on something that has nothing to do with anything I have said in order to shout “gotcha” because my replying somehow validates and makes me complicit to your digression?

Okay – I have some real writing to do – seeya ’round the block.

Feel free to insert predictable hack insult – I’ll chuckle about it as I deposit a couple royalty checks this afternoon.

Personally – I think Maher goes too far quite often – especially when he condescends to Middle America. I just don’t get the need to be so mean spirited – no matter which side it is coming from. Name calling is immature as far as I am concerned.

How’s this fit in with your hypocrisy charge?

Yes CM… our president is smarmy for this method of fund-raising ,. But bring up the dead soldiers and the war dent and Halliburton and it is I who apparently suffers from some derangement syndrome. Reality is optional with these guys. If they heard it on their right wrong radio or if their mouth made those words or their keyboard typed those sentences IT MUST BE Reality. Over and over again all over the blog-osphere and in person I find neocons unable to follow through on a debate… the cog dis kicks in and they either walk away , flame out or start name calling. I’ve not found a one that I can give put up a good debate with consistency and based on the facts.

And bullshit CM, Sally tried to re-frame what I said

Uh yeah – about this – If by claiming I stood silently when conservative women were attacked verbally by left leaning entertainers you were not implying I was advocating that type of language toward women (at least conservatives) what exactly did you mean then?

Isn’t the old adage silence is complicity? Is this is not what you were implying – if not, what did you mean?

There is no charge of hypocrisy (one that I have since proven wrong) otherwise.

Seems to me you were the one re-framing the argument. My post was and is on the irony of a crude comment in support of a post about decorum. It really isn’t that complicated. In fact I assumed the Ron Burgundy quote would lend a bit of humor to it. But you turned it into an opportunity to attack my sincerity.

I’m afraid re-framing doesn’t mean what you think it does.

Please, enlighten me where I have misinterpreted.

  19. balthazar

    Hypocrisy

Screaming about it when the exact same thing is done to your side, but being silent when your side does it to others. Pretty much the definition of it.

    Stay Classy and Clueless, Sally.

I’d ask you to point out what is wishy washy about my statement saying that I think “Maher goes too far quite often” but I really don’t feel like talking with you is very productive. As with Alex – I will no longer be reading or responding to anything you write.
