Happy Dependent Mother’s Day!

From the White House website:

These people really are shameless.

(And while I’m up … it’s still disgusting how insurance companies charging women more because they use more healthcare is seen as some evil plot needing government intrusion. It shows that the Left really don’t understand what insurance is. Insurance is risk management. I just had a $20,000 surgery, which would have been a devastating cost, but was manageable because it was effectively spread out over the insurance payments I make every month. Seen that way, I should be charged more if I am likely to use more healthcare.

To the Obamaites, health insurance is redistribution. It’s about getting other people to pay for your healthcare. This is why they see charging women more as evil: we’re all supposed to be equal — except the politicians, of course, who are more equal than others.)

This is probably an area where I couldn’t be further away from libertarians than I am.

I have no problem when you’re talking about group insurance. And if you had some national insurance, sure. I even think we should help people who are uninsurable. But the individual market is where I think price selection should be valid.

I think that most of us are mother-fuckers, at least occasionally. :)

In Sweden we celebrate Mother’s Day the last Sunday in May. Don’t know why we don’t follow the majority on that, and Google didn’t help much either.

I’d throw race into the same unacceptable bin too, if by odd(?)chance, an insurance company were to set premiums based on racial statistics.

Can they not? If not, why not?

Don’t know, but I would expect such practices to being self-sanitizing because of the nature of the subject. Racism is pretty loaded, after all. All women is easier.

Insurance seems to have some similarities to “redistributed” healthcare to me… The cost of your surgery is clearly taken from other people’s insurance. Plus an incentive for Doctors and hospitals to not be prudent with “your” money. Yes there is a an absence of violence and force involved but it has similarities.

This is standard liberal bullshit though. There are indeed costs involved and this will simply shift the costs to others. This is simply wishing and offering things that sound great and will be manipulate people into voting for you, but once in practice will fall apart and cause various problems but by the time they become apparent it will be too late to “unvote” the liberal liars. If anything the government should DIRECTLY pay for the women a % which they deem “unfair”, not dictate to the Insurance companies, thus creating distortions in their pricing.

As a Nationalist though, healthcare for women should be paid for by the state i.e everyone, as pregnancy and childbirth are vital to the nation, and asking women to pay for providing the raw materials on which the entire nation, and everybody in theory, utilises, seems absurd. If you’re a well-to-do capitalist, try being a capitalist in a nation with just you in.

The American healthcare system whilst the best in the world in terms Objectively (i.e in terms of lives it saves and quality, not fallacious crap like “pound for pound efficiency”), is still f*cked. So are most healthcare systems, especially the NHS. Both programs in the US designed to provide “Free healthcare” to the elderly and poor is/is becoming bankrupt. The costs that are paid to hospitals etc are not representative of the real value of the care, it doesn’t seem like a true free market to me.

In small countries such as some EU countries it might be possible to offer “Free” healthcare for a while, smaller populations can absorb these costs and it seems preferable, but in large countries it seems impossible – unless you borrow and borrow, which is what the UK did (to our ruin).

Poosh I agree that pregnancy and childbirth are vital to the nation as a nation can not survive without future taxpayers so shouldn’t it follow that women must be made to pay for their own birth control and more especially abortions?

And are the stories we read (Mail-Online) about women in the UK using multiple abortions as birth control really true?

I don’t see how it follows that they should therefore pay for birth-control and abortions? But I see the logic there. You could come up with other arguments, a feminist argument for example (original feminist argument, not the 60s second/third wave feminism that we think of when we hear the word “feminism” today) which could be just as important or more so, than the nationalist imperative. I suppose forcing women to have unwanted pregnancies where the baby is ultimately provided sub-par living standards, or backstreet abortions, is a negative hit on the country. You are totally correct to separate the two types of healthcare I think, in fact trying to put it all under a single umbrella is devious of Obama’s goons.

It may be this article you’re talking about, which points out abortions are down, however 48 women do seem to have had abortions as a form of contraceptive, out of some 30 million females, mind you.

A problem with the government paying for your childbirth etc is that it creates the eh idea (can’t think of a good word) that the government/collective supported you coming into this world, therefore you owe it/the collective. This might be problematic.

Still, the question stands. I would think they could’ve come up with another shape for this.
