Lest you think the battle over internet-throttling SOPA is over,
Corporate Shill Former Senator Chris Dodd has a letter today that is a full-on mouth-foaming rant in opposition to the blackout:
It is an irresponsible response and a disservice to people who rely on them for information and use their services. It is also an abuse of power given the freedoms these companies enjoy in the marketplace today. It’s a dangerous and troubling development when the platforms that serve as gateways to information intentionally skew the facts to incite their users in order to further their corporate interests.
Yes, yes. Because it’s only fair when the facts are skewed to favor Chris Dodd’s corporate interests. It’s only fair when the MPAA forces us to watch anti-pirating PSA’s before films and DVDs.
What a worthless weasel. And this is the guy who supposedly has saved our financial system.
Update: The more I think about this, the more annoyed I get. Reddit, boingboing, Wikipedia — all of these websites are free to black themselves out for whatever the fuck reason they want to. It’s their God-damned web sites. If they want to black them out in support of National Turnip Week (named after former Senator Chris Dodd), more power to them. I wish the internet titans stood up for civil liberties even more than they do.
Someone has to. Because it sure as shit ain’t gonna be the politicians.
