They’re black, so that explains it…

Looks like PETA – no, not people for eating tasty animals, but the one chock full of nuts – has nowsued Sea World for keeping their Orca Whales as slaves:

The Associated Press explains the SeaWorld case thusly:

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is accusing the SeaWorld parks of keeping five star-performer whales in conditions that violate the 13th Amendment ban on slavery. SeaWorld depicted the suit as baseless.

The chances of the suit succeeding are slim, according to legal experts not involved in the case; any judge who hews to the original intent of the authors of the amendment is unlikely to find that they wanted to protect animals. But PETA relishes engaging in the court of public opinion, as evidenced by its provocative anti-fur and pro-vegan campaigns.

Yeah, that’s it! And they are black too! RACIALISTS! Can these morons make themselves even less liked than this? Genius.

Wouldn’t this mean that any animal put into any kind of work in the service of a human or government enterprise would be a slave? Wouldn’t it mean you can’t own an animal at all? Does PETA want to outlaw all pet ownership if possible? Does it at least mean we can do away with drug sniffing dogs then?

Some hard core PETA people really do seem to want to outlaw pet ownership.

There’re comments at the UT (San Diego Union Tribune… this story is front page today, website at least) along the lines of: hey, if they’re slaves, they’re human which means we have to prosecute whichever whale it was that killed a trainer a few years ago for murder.

Was organization PeTA was forced into using that fucked up (e) many years ago because a man I’ve known for 40 years owns the rights to P.E.T.A.

His name is Colonel John Herriot. At least 5th generation circus performer and his children, grands and great grands are still performing. He’s retired and probably mid 80’s now and doesn’t push the copyright thing much anymore.

BTW, it has been in use since the early 50’s
