One Day, Two Bombshells

OK, kids. Discuss:

President Obama said Friday that he had ordered the deployment of 100 armed military advisers to central Africa to help regional forces combat the Lord’s Resistance Army, a notorious renegade group that has terrorized villagers in at least four countries with marauding bands that kill, rape, maim and kidnap with impunity.

The deployment represents a muscular escalation of American military efforts to help fight the Lord’s Resistance Army, which originated as a Ugandan rebel force in the 1980s and morphed into a fearsome cultlike group of fighters. It is led by Joseph Kony, a self-proclaimed prophet known for ordering village massacres, recruiting prepubescent soldiers, keeping harems of child brides and mutilating opponents.

I have little doubt that we can kill this vicious fucker with very little effort. I have a lot of doubt, however, that it will make a difference. We’ve helped roll back the LRA before and they keep murdering and terrorizing people. Moreover, Uganda’s problems are a lot bigger than the LRA. I’m really not seeing why we should be involved here. Yes, it’s horrible what the LRA is doing. But is making them retreat to the Congo or Sudan going to help?

In other big news, the Administration has cancelled the CLASS program because of skyrocketing projected costs. Do you think this will provoke a “guess you were right” from the smug liberals who insisted Obamacare was going to save us money?

Don’t hold your breath. You can’t afford the bills anymore.

The Trifecta over at PJTV compares Obama to Charles Foster Kane. Their egos and arrogance are very similar.

There are people at PJTV that annoy me a bit Bill Whittle sure isn’t one on them. Along with Scott Ott and “Vodka Pundit” Steve Green this 7 min. piece is spot-on.

Wait, so the American Government sells assault weapons to Mexican Drug Cartels that terrorise and plague Mexican villagers and citizens… but then send military advisers (after cutting defence budgets I assume) to Africa to stop marauding bands that terrorise and plague African villagers and citizens !?

I’m all for them killing people like this. I have no problem with America being the world’s policeman. But this, under this government, just doesn’t add up. When there is genuine inconsistency my spidey senses start to tingle.

I think their intentions with Fast and Furious were what they say — to track weapons. But they were so fucking incompetent and had so little oversight and the idea so bone-headed to begin with, it was a fiasco. I mean, what’s next? Not treating syphilis victims so you can see what happens? Oh, wait.

That’s my point innit though. No one wanted mexicans to die but that was the most obvious outcome that only someone who just didn’t give a shit could have allowed it to continue. Which is why this just doesn’t sit right.

Of course different people and powers are in play and it may well be that the african intervention is based on honest decent people who begged the White House to listen to them. But it still feels dodgy, especially in terms of timing.

We already have military trainers all over the world. 100 guys in Uganda isn’t some new dangerous over extension of our military or a new doctrine of global involvement. Our military was over extended before and we have had a doctrine of global military involvement for years (I once saw a chart listing all the countries in which we had a military presence-a lot more than most people think).

Now, both of these things we should be continually re-examining. Should we still have thousands of troops in Europe is a better question that should we have 100 guys in Uganda.

there was no “tracking” to this, hell in all the reports, there is not one shred of evadance that any one was assigned the task of “tracking”

NUMBER 8! Or is this nine? I don’t know.

Funny how when the guy in the WH has a (D) next to his name these tings enver cause too much of the hair pulling, shirt tearing, and banshee wailing we used to get when that cowboy was in the WH, huh?

Can you imagine the insanity from the communists and anti-US crowd? Nada now that Obama does it.

I am pretty sure once the guns were used to kill people, then someone somewhere checked a box on form. But I have no proof of that.
