If a conservative had said something this stupid..

Yeah, I am thinking that that’s going to be the title of a recurring number of posts about the biased reporting of gaffes by leftists, and today’s entry is about Michael Sturla, Rep. from PA whom now is on record of accusing the opposition government of ignoring how the gas industry’s use of fracking to recover natural gas is causing STDs in women.

Can you imagine the LSM’s reaction if some conservative or republican they didn’t like had said something this ridiculous?

    From your link:

“Sturla was apparently citing testimony by Troy Community Hospital from May that says among its experiences with the influx of drilling crews is an increase in sexually transmitted diseases.”

Not the fracking. The Crews doing it. No pun intended.

Yeah, but you have to admit that if a conservative had said this, the media would CONVENIENTLY ignore your rationale 100% of the time.

So you are saying the politican isn’t stupid because he quoted others, correct or not? Then why does the LSM conveniently and constantly only ignore situations like this when they can make people on the right seem stupid?

And I think that the hospital’s claim that the presence of the gas industry correlates to a higher incidence of STDs both is irrelevant and reflects more negatively on the democrats too. Are they saying that no other industries have people that engage in behavior that causes STDs? And what party laughs at those that point out sexual promiscuity, the cause of STD transmission, is a problem?

That this democrat chose to bring this one issue up considering the stance of demcorats on sexual behavior, specifically by making the argument that the gas industry is why STDs happen, and not the people, is not just risable, it is beyond stupid.

No, i’m saying he said the workers caused the bum in STD’s (as per the hospitals research), not fracking, as you implied.

Are they saying that no other industries have people that engage in behavior that causes STDs?

    I doubt it.

And what party laughs at those that point out sexual promiscuity, the cause of STD transmission, is a problem

None of them. if you mean the Democrats, they mostly laugh at people who think Abstinence…and only abstinence…is the best way to stop promiscuity. Your hatred of Democrats and all thinks not hyper-conservative shines clear through here.

Probably, but I can think for myself and i can see when someone is trying to make a cogent arguement or just score politcal points. Although Sturla’s arguement is nowhere near cogent, Alex was just trying to score points.

As long as we are on the topic of over the top stupid by libtards – one of the “global warming” backers has said we need to stop global warming so the space aliens don’t wipe us out for being a menace….

This wasn’t an alarmist saying aliens would wipe us out if we didn’t do something about the environment. This was speculation about what could happen if we actually had a real encounter with extra-terrestrials–one scenario put forth being that they might see what we’re doing to our planet and choose to exterminate us so we never make it off the planet.

Leave it up to the media to spin it into something it wasn’t.

We’d be better off if the general media stopped attempting to report about science (or anything to do with science) completely.

Yes, the general media usually fucks things up terrifically, but I’d really prefer they get their shit together and report on science accurately. Rather than doing fluff pieces about university press releases, looking out the window and claiming hot day = “climate catastrophe imminent” or cold day = “global warming is a fraud,” they should get better journalists that know how to read a damn peer reviewed paper.

Indeed, climate change reporting over the last decade has been simply atrocious. By far the worst part is their attempt to force false balance into everything they write. The public have been woefully misled.

I hate the stupid. Can’t help that democrats take it to epic levels. BTW, I also hate it if republicans do it.

I saw that movie about the aliens coming to save Gaia, and I laughed my ass off at it.

Yes, aliens far more likely to be hostile than friendly – that’s how nature is set up, with all species basically doing whatever it takes to be the dominant one, and nature basically controlling that through mechanisms man has simply been able to overcome due to our supposed higher intelligence, and that’s going to be the same for aliens, and doubly so those that have mastered interstellar travel – but if they come here to wipe us out, it will not be like that idiotic “The day the earth stood still” remake, it will be like “Independance Day”: they want our resources/planet.

Of course, that doesn’t disuade the Gaia worshippers from trying to use even that to scare us into letting them enslave us all.

This is what the “debate” has turned into – once all the supports for the false theory have been yanked, it has done a fantastic job of turning in on itself ever more desperately.
