Crankshaft Gets His

This month’s issue of The New Yorker has the whole story on the hunt and termination of OBL, a short excerpt:

The Americans hurried toward the bedroom door. The first SEAL pushed it open. Two of bin Laden’s wives had placed themselves in front of him. Amal al-Fatah, bin Laden’s fifth wife, was screaming in Arabic. She motioned as if she were going to charge; the SEAL lowered his sights and shot her once, in the calf. Fearing that one or both women were wearing suicide jackets, he stepped forward, wrapped them in a bear hug, and drove them aside. He would almost certainly have been killed had they blown themselves up, but by blanketing them he would have absorbed some of the blast and potentially saved the two SEALs behind him. In the end, neither woman was wearing an explosive vest.

A second SEAL stepped into the room and trained the infrared laser of his M4 on bin Laden’s chest. The Al Qaeda chief, who was wearing a tan shalwar kameez and a prayer cap on his head, froze; he was unarmed. “There was never any question of detaining or capturing him—it wasn’t a split-second decision. No one wanted detainees,” the special-operations officer told me. (The Administration maintains that had bin Laden immediately surrendered he could have been taken alive.) Nine years, seven months, and twenty days after September 11th, an American was a trigger pull from ending bin Laden’s life. The first round, a 5.56-mm. bullet, struck bin Laden in the chest. As he fell backward, the SEAL fired a second round into his head, just above his left eye. On his radio, he reported, “For God and country—Geronimo, Geronimo, Geronimo.” After a pause, he added, “Geronimo E.K.I.A.”—“enemy killed in action.”

This story beats anything penned by Brad Thor or David Balducci.

The author sure does portray Obama in a great light. I have given him props in the past for being an unexpected terror warrior. Although it is hard to know where the facts end and the author’s political biases start (we have all heard some rumblings about the president being unenthusiastic and uninvolved, needing to be led to the table by those more committed) but who knows? It could have happened just like this.

I was a bit skeptical about the parts that involved so many different briefings involving so many different personnel and how this many people in the loop could keep the whole thing under wraps.

All the bit players involved, a Back Hawk Down hero, the SEAL snipers in the Maersk incident (talk about a precision op), the failed rescue attempt of Linda Norgrove providing motivation for a clean outcome, the search dog brought along to sniff out faked walls, and the civilian interpreter dressed like a policeman to alley the fears of snoopy neighbors, it’s all here.

And naturally, nothing goes according to plan so we have the crashed helo in the compound.

A compelling read, something our nation can be proud of. Justice was finally served.

By all reports, Obama pretty much had nothing to do with this – apparently Jarret, Obama, and his wife were all against possibly ticking off Pakistan and this operation was carried out by other staff members and dumped on his lap when it was too late for him to say no.

SO I am with you and suspect Obama’s role to be minimal, and suspect he had to be dragged along to allow it to happen. I will however give him a pass, even if they had to drag him kicking & screaming to allow this mission to go down, because in the end we got that asshole.

Fuck the Pakistanis at this point.

As far as I can tell, the only source for that is conservatives desperately wishing it were so. Maybe. But I think he’s a lot tougher than a lot of people think. I mean, the man took out Hillary Clinton too!

I think you are totally wrong here Hal. Obama didn’t take out Hillary: the LSM did that for him. Huge distinction. This president was not only the one least critically looked at by the media, ever, but to put icing on the cake these scumbags went so far as to invent a near divine persona for him. Fuck, the assholes even gave the man a Nobel Peace prize for not being GWB. He then just rode the whole journolist and adoring media fantasy created around the “Knight in shining armor riding unicorns to the rescue – to save us with Hope & Change” bullshit myth they created to the top. Then he proceeded to make Carter look capable, grounded in reality, and even smart with his stupid government takeover and control of everything shit.

Also, you should not confuse being though with Alinsky style ruthlessness and overweening self absorption. Obama is a weak ass empty suit, and his perfomrance so far proves it. Without the media carrying his bucket of piss and telling us it is holy water, he would be nothing. He makes GWB look like a genius.

Maybe? That was an understatement, if I ever saw one. You are polite, Hal. :) So Obama was against it and his wife(!) was against it. However, other staff members supposedly went ahead and did it anyway, against Obama’s wishes (and his wife’s – hahahaha).

You don’t actually believe that Obama is running things in the white house do you?

By all reports it’s been his advisers that have run things since day one, and that hasn’t gone over well with the DNC.

The media gave Obama the Nobel Peace prize?

He might be a pussy, but if he is, he’s not showing much of it. Rendition is alive and well, which according to some people is pretty bad ass. Guantanamo remains open, also bad ass. He’s uses more drones than Bush ever did, and launches them into countries you’re not at war with. Bad ass? He orders military operations into Pakistan, without informing the Pakistani government. The Patriot Act has been extended, supported by the administration. Border security is higher than it’s likely ever been (ICE throws out more people than ever before, even though illegal immigration isn’t higher than ever before).

What do you expect from a supposedly liberal president? The guy’s not exactly playing soft ball.

Oh, there are reports? Are they official, or just anecdotal? Where are they? Why don’t you start with this subject. Show me a report that concludes that Obama was against killing Osama in Pakistan, where his wife(!) was against it, and where staff members went behind his back to get it done anyway.

Name the staff members. Are there tape recordings? Signed witness reports? What do you have?

The media gave Obama the Nobel Peace prize?

No Kimpost, leftist morons that believe like the media that he was their knight in shining armor did that. The media encouraged it by creating the illusion that Obama was the second coming. I should have been clearer.

He might be a pussy, but if he is, he’s not showing much of it.

Never called him a pussy, in fact let me categorically state I doubt he is a pussy – he is married to Michelle after all, and that takes some balls to do. I pointed out that he was simply too inexperience and inept to do anything of value unless it was by chance. Or maybe when following in GWB’s footsteps and doing more of the same, if not taking it to a new level, which gives me a hearty laugh considering how he told us he wouldn’t ever do any of that. If all libs that hated it when GWB did it had continences and morals they would feel raped by this guy.

So you want to credit him for doing what his predecessor put in place – with the exception of border security, and that’s not credible at all considering that Napolitano is claiming that they are doing far more hard work just because they are actually finally deporting more criminals than they did under Bush. I should add – not that I am making excuses for GWB cause to me he was a no-show a tool on immigration – because when GWB was president people like Napolitano and other members of her party tied those in GWB’s administration that wanted to do that in court to stop them.

Maybe you should have mentioned Libya. Or Yemen. Those are Obama’s for sure. Well the military is doing all the work, the media is ignoring it, and the work here isn’t that big of a deal other than hearing NATO members whine about Gaddafi wanting to sell the Chinese their oil. The same military that Obama’s party thinks should be gutted BTW.

What do you expect from a supposedly liberal president? The guy’s not exactly playing soft ball.

    He’s on the wrong court.

Oh, there are reports? Are they official, or just anecdotal?

That was funny Kimpost. As if they would basically tell the American people Obama is inept and incapable and erode confidence, and hence the adults had to take the reigns. Far better to let him do it all by himself as he has.

SO is right however when he says Obama is in way over his head and likely has the really though shots being called by others. That gives him more time for vacations and golfing.

Is this one of those Cheney and Rove really run the White House-narratives, except this time it’s about Obama?

Anyway, I’m curious about what Michelle said to Obama when all was said and done here. No sex that night I guess. Damn this is funny. :)

Surprisingly enough, I read other blogs. And no, I don’t bookmark and organize everything just for later posting.

You can start with Ulsterman and go from there. Ulsterman has the distinction of writing like a conspiratorial hack, but he’s usually proven correct in the long run.

Our leftists constantly project their worst behavior on the other side and accuse them of practicing it when there is no basis for any of that. So yeah, while you seem to be implying there is no truth to thinking Obama is handled, I am not at all surprised that Obama is getting his marching orders from his betters.

And as for Michelle, I was actually talking along the line that Michelle told him she would kick his skinny arse, and I bet she can too. If you ask me which one of them would win in a fist fight I would bet my house on her.

I don’t know.. simply continuing the policies of the last guy, that were supposedly so horrible, is pretty wimpy. I’d actually have a little more respect for the guy (while still disagreeing with many choices) if he actually stood up and stuck to his promises. Doing that takes some balls, vs sticking with the status quo.
