Europe’s most liberal nation kills multiculturalism?

Well, that’s almost what it looks like that a new citizen integration bill (cover letter and pdf accompanying bill) presented to the Dutch parliament on June 16 by Interior Minister Piet Hein Donner seems to say. Here are some excerpts:

The government shares the social dissatisfaction over the multicultural society model and plans to shift priority to the values of the Dutch people. In the new integration system, the values of the Dutch society play a central role. With this change, the government steps away from the model of a multicultural society.”

“A more obligatory integration is justified because the government also demands that from its own citizens. It is necessary because otherwise the society gradually grows apart and eventually no one feels at home anymore in the Netherlands. The integration will not be tailored to different groups.”

The new integration policy will place more demands on immigrants. For example, immigrants will be required to learn the Dutch language, and the government will take a tougher approach to immigrants to ignore Dutch values or disobey Dutch law.

Bold was done by me to stress the obvious first part. The second part was supposedly already Dutch law, it was just not enforced. Does this mean that the elites running the Netherlands finally have picked up the discontent with the immigrants that refuse to not only integrate, but actually flaunt that lack of integration and actively denigrate Dutch society, that permeates their populous, and are acting upon it? We’ll see.

It’s going to be interesting, because the discontent and failure is primarily targeted at guess who?

The government will also stop offering special subsidies for Muslim immigrants because, according to Donner, “it is not the government’s job to integrate immigrants.” The government will introduce new legislation that outlaws forced marriages and will also impose tougher measures against Muslim immigrants who lower their chances of employment by the way they dress. More specifically, the government will impose a ban on face-covering Islamic burqas as of January 1, 2013.

It looks like the Dutch have had enough of the problems with this group which not only refuses integration but which openly professes hostility towards their host country. And I think I should mention that this proposal was submitted on the day before the acquittal of Geert Wilders, whom had been dragged into court for pointing out that Dutch liberalism and Islam where simply incompatible. This is a serious turnabout in Europe. One we should follow and pay close attention to. It’s no surprise to me that the LSM has not covered either story much here in the US.

That was funny loser. To me it is obvious that the damage has become so overwhelming and the people so fed up that the elites decided they better do something, even if it is just talk though, or they would soon end up out of power. But when you have entire ethnic neighborhoods where Dutch fear for their lives, in their own country, well, then people are going to start retaliating and that chaos is going to make the nightly car burnings in the muslim neighborhoods of French cities look tame.

I liked the comment Insty posted with his link to this story:

As Jim Bennett says, “Democracy, open immigration, multiculturalism — pick any two.”

I expect Euros will continue to blame the US for all and any misunderstandings they may have developed with their kindred freedom fighters in the ongoing war against oil. “Divide and conquer” just seems to work again and again against otherwise placid peacemongers..

Looks like simply doping up together, 100% legally, doesn’t always work as promised.

I think he got it wrong. Democracy can not survive without carfully controlling immigration – like our country did for almost 2 centuries – and is toast when multiculturalism means you allow people that are not just hostile to your core beliefs, but act on it, get away with that because you don’t have the balls to tell them their barbaric 7th century ideology is currently defined by those that can do the most evil in its name.

When people had to come through Ellis Island NY, prove they were not sick and capable, that they would integrate, and then got to stay? You should read up on that stuff, Kimpost. I know the liberal establishment of today would like to pretend that immigration to the US wasn’t regulated but it sure as hell was.

Or where you questioning my comment that immigration was controlled for 2 centuries? Access to the new world wasn’t easy before the late 1890s, and then getting in required meeting standards. So, yeah, for almost 2 centuries access to the US wasn’t as easy as paying a coyote to cross the border then disappearing into the morass of society. Espeically if you didn’t have any intention to integrate into the culture and become an American. Shit like this wouldn’t bet the norm.

Does that mean that you would be in favour of opening a new Ellis Island today? I would regard that a radical move. But kind of cool. It certainly would ease the pressure on the southern border…

It certainly was easier than today.

Gollee, Bushitler! The ever-dilignet Thinkers are already calling Dutch pride good old Nazism – they plan to make it illegal to slaughter properly

he Dutch Party for the Animals proposed closing a loophole in the Dutch law that allows Jews and Muslims to kill animals that have not been anesthetized first.

“The Party for the Animals believes that freedom of religion must end where animal suffering begins,” leader Marianne Thieme wrote on her blog before the measure went to a vote Tuesday.

On the opposite side of the spectrum ya got Cuba, China, North Korea, Venezuela etc. which all have similar pride, but a truly classless society, free healthcare, no unemployment, crime, homeless, people don’t emigrate, etc.
The difference is their being lefty thinker proles, which makes it okay.

Better look to New Zealand for an ancient noble Solomonic ruling

Stunning animals before butchering is not allowed by Jewish or Muslim law.

David Zwartz, the chairman of the Wellington Jewish Council, fought successfully against a similar proposal in New Zealand last year.

He said that for Jews, the Dutch measure would be “an attack on their freedom to practice their religion in a way that they have done for thousands of years.”

He compared the proposal to Nazi-era laws.

“The banning of shechita was introduced as an anti-Jewish law by the Nazis in Germany three months after they came into power in 1933,” said Zwartz, using the Hebrew word for Jewish ritual slaughter.

“The banning in Nazi German-occupied Poland and the Netherlands was overtly anti-Jewish, ” Zwartz said.

“Freedom of religious practice is a hallmark of civilized (and most Western) societies. In New Zealand it is covered by our Bill of Rights Act. For Orthodox Jews, the eating of kosher meat is a central part of their belief,” he said.

k, then, stunning animals is barbaric, period. Unless.

Sorry Alex, but it wasn’t like that. There was no crap about integration. Language tests didn’t come in until WW1 or so. On Ellis and Angel Islands, they checked to make sure immigrants were healthy and not nuts (by absurd standards) and then they let them in. There was one other standard: they couldn’t have a job waiting for them. If they had employment, then Ellis rejected them because they were taking a job away from an American.

I understand the oil-biased US media is trying to divert our admittedly fickle attention from Glendolf Beckitler’s one-note right wing rants to the minor Greek kerfuffle within the EU, making them sound like they don’t know what they’re doing with money, and don’t like and respect each other’s deep and ancient cultures. 100% untrue.
