Gingrich’s aids resign en masse.

That’s what AP is reporting:

WASHINGTON – The entire top echelon of New Gingrich’s presidential campaign resigned on Thursday, a stunning mass exodus that left his bid for the Republican nomination in tatters. Rick Tyler, the former U.S. House speaker’s spokesman, said that he, campaign manager Rob Johnson and senior strategists had all quit, along with aides in the early primary and caucus states of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina. Other officials said Gingrich was informed that his entire high command was quitting in a meeting at his campaign headquarters in Washington. They cited differences over the direction of the campaign. Scott Rials, a longtime aide who joined the departure, said he doubted Gingrich’s ability to win the nomination. “I think the world of him. But at the end of the day we just could not see a clear path to win, and there was a question of commitment,” Rials told The Associated Press.

Apparently Newt is on a Med cruise. Maybe the lack of focus and the fact that while he is interesting to listen to on a very few topics, but not presidential material, finally swayed these people to seek work elsewhere. Personally I hope Newt takes this message the right way and bows the hell out of the race.

He won’t bow out yet, but this was the nail in the coffin. Whatever slim chances he had, they are now completely gone. Good riddance. He’s a relic.

Makes you wonder – did they all realize that they were working for a complete douche, or was it even more significant?

Looks like blind, religious zeal amongst Republicans (=Americans) is finally a thing of the past in the US? That they will forthwith vote on the issues, and those who deliver on promises.

Obama is invincible in that respect.
