The Puritans Strike Back

And once again, I am eternally grateful that that fucktard fascist Martha Coakley did not get elected to the Senate:

Attorney General Martha Coakley, leading legislators and district attorneys have decided that what Massachusetts really needs is an all-out offensive against prostitution.

They are proposing a new crime: “human trafficking for sexual servitude,” which would allow convicted pimps, madams, or anyone else facilitating the exchange of sex for money to be imprisoned for up to 20 years on the first offense, with a mandatory 10 years in the pen if convicted a second time.

The 20-year sentence would also apply to anyone who recruits someone to engage in a “sexually-explicit performance.” If you’re planning a batchelor party, better do it soon, since this law would empower Coakley to shut down the “gentlemen’s clubs” and hire-a-stripper operations.

The proposed law considers prostitutes the “victims” of prostitution, so it doubles the sentence for their customers. “Whoever pays, agrees to pay, or offers to pay another person” for sex can be sentenced to up to 2 1/2 years in jail and a $5,000 fine, “whether such sexual conduct occurs or not.”

The anti-prostitution weenies have found a way of prettying up their sexual hangup. They’re not against sex, they say, they’re against “trafficking”. But they have now defined trafficking so broadly that women consenting to have sex for money are considered victims of some global conspiracy. And those who facilitate this business could be in jail longer than murderers. They site bogus statistics to convince us that hundreds of thousands of underage women are in sexual slavery in this country, despite their manifest failure to uncover these supposed massive trafficking rings. And now they’ve decided that it’s a good use of resources to jail whores, pimps and johns.

This will not work. Prostitution is universal, even in countries where it is punishable by death. You simply can not control consensual acts between adults. Massachusetts should be decriminalizing prostitution, not doubling down on a failed and corrupting policy.

(The article also address efforts to stop people snacking and the Mass cops taking a cue from our President and refusing to comply with the more liberal laws on pot possession. But that’s small potatoes compared to tossing someone in the clink with violent thugs because he paid for or was paid for a blowjob. That’s an entire extra level of stupid.)

(H/T: Maggie McNeill, bringing the facts, as always.)

Does seem odd that those higher evolved Harvard/MIT types would even consider such silliness, but Mass. would not be the only state to consider a monumentally stupid proposal (Louisiana tried to outlaw pants that hang below the belt), the people will come to their senses and smack this down.

When I worked in Los Angeles I had a couple LAPD buddies that I went skiing with, they both worked Hollywood, they told me that by and large the cops gave the hookers a wide berth. Twice a week or so they would make a production of lining them up, taking down their names, patting them down for weapons, and going through the motions, most where UCLA or USC co-eds putting themselves through college (probably now all highly paid professionals in their field) and we all use to laugh at the dumb ass rookie cops would ultimately get fired over impropriety with the hookers, on Sunset Blvd. the ones there were almost all absolutely gorgeous.

I doubt many of them would consider themselves victims.

Also worked a few years in West Hollywood where the hookers were all male (wonder if this new Mass. proposal would treat them and their cash business the same way) capitalism at it’s finest.

What they need to crack down on is pimps and pervs that seek out/provide underage women. The rest of it needs to legalized and brought into the light so the individuals that provide sex services are regularly checked for STDs.

I someone wants to sell their ass, regardless of the reason, it is their choice to do so (or at least SHOULD be), and nobody is forced to seek out their services.

The harder it is to get a nice hooker, the more the ugly disease infested skanks can charge for their services! Coakly is helping them pimps make mo money!

Seriously, this shit in the people’s republic of Mass. doesn’t surprise me. The left pretends to be more open, but by definition any politician that feel the people they represent are stupid and need to be protected from the consequences of their stupidity – for their own good of course! – is eventually going to start pulling stunts like this. You have to control everything, including vices, so the stupid serfs don’t go doing something bad. They went after cigarettes. they are now going after food. Why not prostitution as well? Wait until they want to ban any kind of entertainment they deem to violent and dirty. Of course, it’s only going to be news when the MSM can blame the right.

    Pimp’n ain’t easy but it’s necessary.
So I am chasing Hos like Tom chased Jerry!

Alex in the other thread you’re convinced that the left (in Europe) want to turn a blind eye, or even legalise, sex between adults and children. But here you’re suggesting the left want to protect people and control everything (“including vices”). I’m confused.

In the people’s republic of New Zealand (socialist paradise where freedom has been sacrificed for the goodness of all, etc etc) prostitution has been legalised. Does that mean we’re going down the slippery slope towards having sex with kids?

Of course you are, CM, and I am not surprised. You thought I said the left wanted to protect people. I said the left’s political class felt obligated to protect people from the consequences of their choices. Big difference. The politicians on the left only pretend to want to protect people. What they really want however is to control people. That’s why one group of leftist can be pursuing something completely different from another group of leftists, as is the hypothetical you bring up, depending on which one they feel will give them more power.

I am not as familiar with what’s acceptable or being demanded by the deviants in New Zealand, but if I remember correctly homosexual marriage isn’t allowed, and bestiality is still bad, so you might have a while to get there, yet. All kidding aside, no I don’t think you will get to have sex with kids, and I seriously do not believe there is that big of a link between prostitution and pedophilia. The Dutch are far, far ahead of you on this issue. Heck, they even just recently banned bestiality, not because they felt it was bad, but because they felt animals were being abused.

It’s often difficult keeping up with the narratives. Everyone has a slightly different one. Sometimes they change slightly.

    Initially you said:

‘By definition’ doesn’t seem consistent with them only pretending to want to protect people.

BTW, we also have civil unions

Ah yes, because you say so. Whatever.

So do we in Connecticut, at least for now.

According to Wikipedia, zoophilia is illegal in 32 US states. 32, not 50. What gives? Anyway, it’s legal in Sweden too. As a result of that everyone here has sex with animals. But doing it with same sex animals is frowned upon. Particularly if they are under-aged.

Legalized dope leads to sex with minors in the Netherlands, as the kids want the dope first, sex distand second. How much of this is truly “free will”?

In 1975 Massachusetts passed a law that gave a mandatory sentence of one year in prison to anyone found with an unlicensed handgun. NO ONE has ever served that sentence. It was electioneering. This law is going to be exactly the same.

I’ve traveled and worked for many years throughout the lower 48 states but I have never seen corruption and hypocrisy more prominently displayed than in the state where I grew up.

Twenty year jail terms ain’t never gonna happen.

Well, since I never made the argument that they felt people needed protecting or were pretending to protect them – that’s your strawman so you can grand stand – you are free to keep at it. Besides, facts, logic, or reason don’t rank high with liberals when they go against that narrative. You are however welcome to keep digging that hle you are in CM. I am enjoying the show.

They are saving that for the first time some uppity gun owner protects himself from some misunderstood criminal and they want to make an example of people like him. These laws are always to make politicians have a recourse against the people when push come to shove.

Best joke I ever heard about this goes like this:

A cowboy moseys on into this little town and hitches his horse outside the saloon. After heading inside to wet his whistle, he says to the bartender, “I’ve been out on the range quite awhile, buddy. Which way is the whorehouse?”

“Sorry, friend, we don’t got one yet,” the barkeep answers. “Everyone in town’s feeling the hurt. But what you can do is, there’s a pigpen next door. You just go over there and have at one, no charge.”

“What?! That’s sick, you’re crazy!” the cowboy huffs. He pays for his room and goes upstairs to sulk. But much later that night he starts feeling particularly strong pangs of loneliness, so finally he goes down and out to the pigpen. He figures, what the hell, if he’s gonna do it he’s gonna go all the way. So he heads to the general store first and buys a dress and some makeup, picks out what he thinks is a fairly nice-looking pig, dresses it up as pretty as he can manage, and takes it into the saloon to have a drink first.

Well, he sits down with the pig at the table, and every guy in there is just staring at him in horror. Finally he looks at the barkeep and says “What the hell gives? I thought you said this is what all the guys here do!”

“Well yeah, but not with the sheriff’s girl!”

    Same genre:

A sailor wakes up after his ship sinks and finds himself on a desert island. After a bit of exploring he finds a solitary tribe of natives. They seen friendly enough and they welcome him in to the tribe, the problem is they are all male. He decides to break the ice:
“What do you guys do for fun around here on a Saturday night”

“Well, once a month we all get in our canoes and go over to the adjoining island, there is a herd of sheep over there and we have our way with them”
“That’s just sick” the guy says to himself, but after several lonely months, he decides to re consider and on the next canoe trip he joins in. The whole way over he is getting more and more excited. Once they land he jumps out, runs over and grabs a sheep, then does his business. Halfway through the consummation he hears everyone laughing.
    “What’s so funny” he yells
“Oh, you picked the ugliest one”.

Ah I see, you’re one of those types that literally define themselves by their hatred of liberals and everything liberal. Everything must come back to that, even when political/philosophical opinion is completely irrelevant. Gotcha.
